{Musings} Green eyes.

Lately I've been grappling with the green-eyed monster. I'm envious of those who get to stay home with their kids, the vacations I see people post about on instagram, people in good shape. People who get to spend their weekends with their families. People who feel confident in their jobs or their parenting or any aspect of their lives, really.

Today at church, we had a lesson on prayer, and the emphasis was strong on prayers of gratitude. I think gratitude is the antidote to the poisonous green-eyed monster riding on my back, although the moments before starting seem like a high mountain to climb.

How do you beat off the insidious advances of jealousy?

  1. That's a hard one that is constantly coming and going it seems. For the record I've been green at you many a times for getting to work! I often wish I could. I usually find the best way to fight it off is to write down my blessings. Like you said gratitude and also service is huge. Once I start focusing all my free time on making others happy or The Lord happy I find myself feeling complete and grateful for the life I live.

    1. It is funny how what makes me crazy in my life could be what makes someone else envious, haha. I guess it goes to show that we never know for sure what someone else is experiencing! I like your tip of serving, also. Thanks!
